Week of May 1st, 2010

After two weeks while I have been kept away from the European affairs, the weekly update is coming back:

The Economic situation of the eurozone is getting worse: the crisis is deepening for Greece, Portugal and Spain are under attack, the euro is falling, the rescue plan is still not in place, … The International Monetary Fund works actively with the eurozone countries, Greece, and Germany to setup this rescue plan. An agreement should be announce by the beginning of next week.

Other crisis, political one this time, in Belgium where Flemsih and Wallon parties are still opposing. The King accepted this week the resignation of the governement. It is likely that new legislative election will take place in the coming months.

Other election in the United Kingdom: the campaign for the general elections is coming to an end as vote will take place next week.

Also: the EU should, by 2013, ease the airport security rules on liquid transport for carry on luggage [*]. The MEPs are still fighting for a more transparent en balanced SWIFT agreement [*].
