When the EU tries Mathematics

It can give surprising results…

While reading this page on a new formula to calculate the number of MEP for each member state. I am sure the mathematicians involved in this did a good job and sent to the Parliament all the necessary information. But, the Parliament news release gave only the following formula :

Which, if you know a bit of mathematics, that… every member state gets the same number of MPs. The size of the delegation does not depend on the state population.

The press release certainly forgets a significant number of details, for example how the population is taken into account in the calculation.
