2012 Budget: The Council confirms its positionPosted: July 25, 2011
No surprise. The Council just releases its position on the Union Budget for next year: it is a No to the 5% increases proposed by the Commission and backed by the Parliament. The Council won’t go over +2.02%, just 0.02% over the inflation rate; in other words a pure and budget freeze.
The Council wishes also to cut the administrative expenditures, even if this accounts for only 6% of the total budget.
The Parliament will give its answer in October and it is unlikely that it will accept this very limited increase.
